Education generations

Dandenong South Primary is welcoming a third generation of the Memeti clan into its classrooms.
Councillor Jim Memeti started Prep at the school in 1978.
“I remember the first day like it was yesterday,” he said.
“I can’t believe it was so long ago.”
His eldest daughter started her schooling there in 1998 and on Tuesday 30 January, his two granddaughters followed in their footsteps.
The Journal joined Aferdita, husband Burim and daughter Elayna, and Lindita, husband Malik and daughter Aishe for the milestone moment.
Cr Memeti said his wife Mary was another Dandenong South pupil, as were his sons in law.
“I think we’re probably the first family to attend the school over three generations,” Cr Memeti said.
He pointed out his childhood home, located directly behind the school.
“I always used to go home for lunch,” he said.
