Rider more than 100km too fast

A learner motorcycle rider is without his bike for a month and will face court after allegedly speeding in Springvale.
Cardinia Highway Patrol members spotted the rider on Saturday 3 February while taking part in Operation Sumatra.
He was travelling with a group of 10 or more motorcyclists on Springvale Road about 12.20am.
Police said they detected the Ringwood 18-year-old travelling at 181 kilometres an hour in the 80 zone before they intercepted him.
They impounded the motorbike for 30 days at a cost of $878.50.
The rider will be summonsed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court and is expected to answer charges of driving in a dangerous manner, driving at a dangerous speed, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and careless driving.
Police urged anyone who witnessed the group of motorbikes or has dash cam footage or registration numbers to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
