The world on a plate

 The seventh annual Dandenong World Fare is expected to bring 38,000 people to Dandenong Market.
The Sunday 25 March event is part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival program.
More than 50 food trucks and street stalls will make the fare the biggest yet and capture Greater Dandenong’s multicultural community on a plate.
Senor BBQ will serve up Argentinian flavours, with char grilled chorizo, chicken and beef ribs.
Belgium will be represented at Let’s Waffle and Shake, Tibetan steamed dumplings will be on the menu at Himalaya Tibetan Tent and Melbourne Paella Company will serve up the Spanish classic.
Sansan’s Dumpling House will serve traditional dumplings and Chinese buns and Flamin Skewers has traditional Cambodian street barbecue with lamb and beef.
From 10am to 4pm there’ll be live music, dancing and kids’ activities.
Flamenco and Brazilian dancers in traditional costume will take the stage, as will Bollywood-dressed performers and African drummers and dancers.
Free henna and moko face and body art will be on offer.
There’ll be carnival rides, jumping castles and face painting.
Dandenong Market general manager Jennifer Hibbs said the World Fare was the perfect place for the whole family to tuck into a global feast.
“Dandenong Market is a melting pot of so many cultures and the fare gives people the opportunity to experience food from every corner of the globe,” she said.
“Visitors can start their global journey with a taste of Turkish kebabs from Fat Kebabs, then Jamaican food from Boss Man Food and finish up with an Uruguayan steak sandwich from El Chivi.
“To satisfy their sweet tooth, they can then indulge in some fairy floss from the Sweet Factory and of course, a donut from Dandee Donuts.”
Dandenong Market is at Clow and Cleeland streets in Dandenong.
World Fare entry and parking are free.
