Gang chases pair in Burden Park

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

A 20-year-old man has been bashed by a group of six males while walking with a companion in Burden Park on the evening of Thursday 25 July.

One of the males asked the victim for a cigarette, then followed up with a request for $1, police say.

The group chased the pair after they declined the request and walked away.

The victim was caught then punched and kicked by some of the males. He suffered no significant injuries and nothing was stolen.

His companion, a 19-year-old woman, was also pursued by a male wearing a bright yellow hoody.

He halted when he realised that she was on the phone to police.

The group, described as dark-skinned and in their early twenties, fled east towards Olympic Avenue, Springvale South.
