STAFF were evacuated from a fire at a green-waste recycling centre in Dandenong South on Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the fire, which started in a compacter at Veolia Environmental Services’ Natural Recovery Systems centre, at 9.20am.

A CFA spokesman said the fire was brought under control quickly and didn’t cause significant damage.

The centre converts garden and food waste into high-quality compost.
