Workers in Greater Dandenong have claimed $139.8 million for musculoskeletal injuries in the past five years.
WorkSafe says there were 4562 claims for such injuries, including broken bones, sprains and torn muscles.
The most injury claims were made in the manufacturing sector (1793 claims for more than $71 million) and in wholesale trade (734 claims).
WorkSafe’s director of health and safety Ian Forsyth said employers should ensure workers were properly trained and supervised, and use appropriate equipment to lift and move loads.
