London Olympics: Rangers feature in Opals team

THREE players with Dandenong Rangers connections made the Australian women’s basketball team, known as the Opals, for the London Olympics.

The Australian Olympic Committee and Basketball Australia announced the 12-player team last Friday at the new State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South.

Former Rangers junior Liz Cambage joined current Rangers WNBL players Jenna O’Hea and Kath Macleod in the Opals team. Former Rangers WNBL player Abby Bishop also made the team.

While Dandenong didn’t have any connections to players in the men’s Olympic team, former Frankston junior David Andersen was named in the side.
