CHILDREN will be spoilt for choice this Sunday at Ross Reserve in Noble Park for Greater Dandenong Council’s inaugural Little Day Out.
The big event for little residents features music, games and activities including a 10-metre rock climbing wall, 30-metre super slide and a great wall of buckets.
There will be Vietnamese lantern making, badge making and a jumping castle and children can learn new tricks at acrobatics, sports, gardening and science workshops.
Among the headline musical acts are The Mudcakes, a duo who put a comedic take on popular tunes, and soul/blues musician Benny Walker.
Six local groups and performers will also hit the stage: rock-chick pair Bianca Brunacky and Shandara Kemp, Zumbatomic, Yasamine Moslih, the Cook Islands Royal Polynesian group, El Dalouna group and Lopit Community Association dance group.
To add to the day’s fun, the Noble Park Aquatic Centre next door will offer free entry from noon-4pm.
Little Day Out is part of a month-long festival of free or low-cost activities for children aged 12 and under.
Greater Dandenong mayor Youhorn Chea said the festival was the largest the council had undertaken. “We hope it is successful and becomes an annual event.”
The Little Day Out is on Sunday from 11am-4pm at Ross Reserve, Memorial Drive, Noble Park. Details: greaterdandenong.com/childrensfestival or facebook.com/greaterdandenongchildrensfestival.
