Man punched in face in Doveton road rage incident

A MAN was punched to near unconsciousness in a road-rage incident in Doveton.

The man’s car was damaged by another driver, who got out of a recent-model silver people-mover and threw an unknown object at the victim’s car on the Princes Highway overpass, above the South Gippsland Freeway, about 4pm on August 18.

Police say the assailant then met the man in the middle of the intersection and punched him in the face.

The victim fell to the ground, and was punched several more times by the assailant.

Senior Constable Damien Howard of Narre Warren police said an unknown male intervened and separated the pair, but failed to stop the assault.

‘‘The offender has then punched the victim in the side of the head causing the victim to nearly blackout.’’

The assailant is described as of Islander appearance, aged about 30, roughly 174 centimetres tall with a solid build and short black hair. He was possibly wearing a white shirt.

He was accompanied by a female, also about 30 years old and of Islander appearance. She is about 167 centimetres, of medium build, with long black hair. She was wearing a grey-coloured jacket.

The people-mover had registration plates possibly starting with the letter ‘W’ and containing the numbers 611.
