FFV: Thunder takes four awards

DANDENONG Thunder took four major awards at the FFV awards night last Monday.

Thunder import Luke Sherbon won the Bill Fleming Media player of the year award and the Victorian Premier League golden boot while coach Chris Taylor won VPL coach of the year award.

The Thunder’s Stuart Webster was named VPL goalkeeper of the year award after the team conceded just 14 goals during the season, breaking the VPL previous record low of 17 goals.

Sherbon said the honours were nice but meant little to the winners unless they also took out the VPL title.

Moreland Zebras star Kliment Taseski won the under-21 player of the year award. Hume City’s Nick Hegarty scored the major honour: VPL gold medal winner.

In the Women’s Premier League Louisa Bisby won the WVPL goal medal, Cass Dimovski was named goalkeeper of the year and Jeff Hawkins coach of the year. South Melbourne’s Laura Spiranovic won the golden boot.

The Thunder played Oakleigh Cannons in last night’s VPL grand final. The game started after the Weekly went to print.
