White ribbons against family violence

Greater Dandenong councillors don T-shirts for a 'White Ribbon Week' against domestic violence on women

Greater Dandenong councillors donned White Ribbon Day campaign T-shirts last Monday. Mayor Angela Long, fourth from left, said “we must all work together as a community” to prevent violence against women and children.

“One in three women is physically assaulted in their lifetime — the equivalent of 17,000 women in Greater Dandenong,” she said. About half of domestic violence cases are thought to be unreported.

Last week, male council staff signed a pledge against family violence during a rolling program of White Ribbon events. Details: whiteribbon.org.au.
