THOUSANDS are expected to come from all over Melbourne to Springvale’s Sandown racecourse to celebrate the 39th annual Holland Festival this Saturday.

The popular volunteer-run festival celebrates all things Dutch, with their famous pancakes, music and dance being some of the highlights at the event.

Long-time festival volunteer George Vlug said the event was important for the local Dutch community to keep in touch.

“It’s a fantastic event,” he said. He has been involved in the event’s organisation since it started in 1975.

Highlights include traditional folk dancing, a carnival, traditional games for the children and the Victoria Police Show Band.

Festivities run 10am-midnight at Sandown racecourse (entry via Princes Highway overpass). Entry: adults $20, concession $15, children under 15 free. For more information, visit hollandfestival.com.au.
