Alleged robbery at Springvale RSL thwarted

Patrons and security staff tackled an alleged armed robber at Springvale RSL on Thursday night. Police said  a group of men, one armed with a knife, threatened staff just after 11pm. Two patrons, with security staff, confronted the group and a ‘‘physical struggle’’ involving the groups spilled onto Princess Avenue. One of the alleged armed robbers, a 19-year-old of  Clarinda, was overpowered and restrained; the others fled.
