COLIN Robinson is bringing to life some of Australia’s bush literary heritage in a sound-and-sight exhibition in Springvale.
Some of his vast collection of old costumes and tools are on display, evoking scenes from great writers ‘Banjo’ Paterson and Henry Lawson.
One of Paterson’s subjects, a drover named Saltbush Bill who travelled the world cracking whips, settled for the quiet life in Noble Park, Mr Robinson said. “He lived as a recluse after doing performances in Europe and America all his life. He ended up living in a hut by the creek.”
Dressed for the historical part, Robinson recites from memory Paterson’s narratives to exhibition visitors.
The exhibition is at Springvale and District Historical Society, 7 Hillcrest Grove, Springvale, from 1-4pm Wednesday to Friday until May 8. Details: 9548 2732.
