Anzac Appeal collection theft: Springvale woman charged

A SPRINGVALE woman has been charged over allegedly stealing an Anzac Appeal collector’s handbag and car this month.

Senior Sergeant Paul Marshall, of Endeavour Hills police, said the car was recovered during a police intercept in Dandenong about 4am yesterday.

He said the woman was remanded in custody to appear in Dandenong Magistrates Court today on theft charges, including for an alleged petrol drive-off in the car at a Rosebud service station on April 21.

The appeal collector Lorraine Laughton was allegedly robbed of her handbag containing her car keys and a large amount of cash while she rattled collection tins at Endeavour Hills shopping centre on April 20.

Her car was allegedly stolen from the centre’s car park that same day.
