Vote for best in the business

By CASEY NEILL
DANDENONG shoppers are invited to vote for their favourite retailer.
The Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association (DRTA) Business Awards have been revamped to include more stores and, for the first time, a public vote.
Shoppers can email their favourite retailer’s name and address with up to 25 words on why it gets their vote to glenys@fishingcamping.com.au by 31 October.
The top five nominees will be invited to attend the association’s Christmas dinner at the Dandenong Club from 6.30pm on Tuesday 27 November, which incorporates the annual general meeting.
DRTA membership includes one free ticket to the three-course dinner, with extra tickets $60 each.
Action business coach Jan Bidstrup will be the evening’s guest speaker.
“Jan Bidstrup is very good, lively, interesting and will talk about how to run a more profitable business giving lots of techniques and hints,” DRTA chairman Roy Aspinall said.
Each nominee will have five minutes during the event to introduce their business and themselves.
One will be announced as the Central Dandenong Retailer of the Year and receive automatic entry in the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Regional Business Awards.
Mr Aspinall said each nominee would receive a framed certificate, with the winner to be awarded signwriting on its store window, newspaper advertisements, publicity in newsletters and more.
“On behalf of our association, and the retailers of Central Dandenong, I would like to thank the City of Greater Dandenong Council for their sponsorship of these awards,” he said.
“I also extend our thanks to Sign-A-Rama for their support in providing signwriting for the winner to recognise their success.”
