Learning to keep it local

Keysborough Learning Centre’s Marj Sjostrom has won a state prize.
She took home the Learn Local Award for outstanding practitioner at a ceremony on Thursday 8 September.
Ms Sjostrom was among five winners who were recognised on the night.
Dandenong Neighbourhood House’s Naryphol Thach was a finalist for the Pre-Accredited Learner Excellence award.
The awards night recognised the contribution Victoria’s more than 300 Learn Locals make to training.
“These are great stories of training success, of people lifting themselves up through training, of commitment by teachers and of wonderful programs that transform lives,” Training and Skills Minister Steve Herbert said.
“All Victorians, no matter their background, should be able to access training to get the skills they need for the jobs they want.
“Learn Locals are often the first step on someone’s pathway to employment.”
