GENEROUS Dandenong businesses helped pay for a Christmas lunch for some of Dandenong’s poorest people.
Business representatives who attended South East Networks’ (SEN) Christmas Breakfast last month contributed $250 in gold coin donations.
SEN manager Sandra George presented the money to Dandenong charity Cornerstone on Friday, 23 December.
“I would like to say thank you to all of those businesses who went (to the breakfast),” she said.
“We had bowls on each table to collect gold coin donations.
“We thought we’d rather give the money to one charity, and that it was best to donate it to one that would put it towards something for the needy.”
Ms George said Cornerstone was ideal because of its Christmas Day lunch and the Christmas theme of the business breakfast.
And the generosity will be further extended.
Ms George said SEN was evolving a plan to shout Cornerstone’s iconic stone building an internal paint job.
Cornerstone CEO Pastor Max Walker said the charity was thankful to the business community.
“It’s a great idea, we really appreciate what they’re doing,” he said. “It is putting food on the table over the Christmas period.”
