Noble Park hit-run: Man charged with attempted murder

UPDATE: A 21-year-old Meadow Heights man was due to face the Melbourne Magistrates Court today after his arrest following an alleged hit and run collision in Noble Park early Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to a stretch of Chandler Road just before 3.30am after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while walking on the footpath. The 27-year-old Noble Park man was taken to Frankston Hospital with a broken leg.

The Meadow Heights man has been charged with an array of offences, including attempted murder, following what was allegedly a deliberate hit-run incident.

Victoria Police laid the following charges:

– Attempted murder;

– Reckless conduct endangering life;

– Reckless conduct endangering serious injury;

– Intentionally cause serious injury;

– Intentionally cause injury;

– Drive manner dangerous;

– Theft;

– Criminal damage;

– Excessive speed;

– Driving at a dangerous speed; and

– Failure to stop on request.

The driver allegedly made another two attempts to hit the victim as he lay injured on the ground, prompting a major search for him and the white Holden Commodore involved.

Police arrested the man in Epping at 1am  today.
