Stolen copper found in vehicle check

A Frankston police  divisional van conducting a vehicle check on a car  towing a trailer on Frankston-Dandenong Road, Frankston, near Overton Road last Wednesday found it had fake number plates and had been was stolen.   

Police pulled over the stolen vehicle over at 4.30am  and arrested the three occupants. 

In the vehicle’s trailer  police found 300 kilograms of copper allegedly stolen from Mornington Peninsula building sites the night before. 

Frankston’s Senior Sergeant Clive Williams said the men were wanted by Rosebud and Dandenong crime investigation units. 

‘‘The family got their car back and it was fine. There was still dirt on the copper piping where it had been ripped up the night before.’’
