Keeping up with the faiths

GREATER Dandenong secondary school students are set to experience a whirlwind tour of the city’s various religious places of worship this month.
The Interfaith Network is this month recommencing both its public and special tours of the city’s churches, mosques, sacred sites and other places of worship. The tours are designed to promote awareness and respect of the different religions under the tagline Many Faiths, One People.
The first public tour will be held next Wednesday, 11 April beginning at 8.30am at the Springvale Council Offices and then visiting a variety of sites including a Greek Orthodox church, Islamic mosque, Buddhist temple and even an historical Aboriginal site.
A similar tour for about 100 Greater Dandenong based secondary students will take place on 18 April as part of National Youth Week celebrations.
Interfaith Network president Helen Heath said she had been working with the City of Greater Dandenong on the special tour and anticipated 100 students from year nine to 11 from schools across the city would participate.
