A CYCLIST died after a collision with a car on the South Gippsland Highway in Dandenong on Monday morning.
Police said the collision happened at 5.40am when the man was hit by a city-bound car as he attempted to cross the highway.
Police said the cyclist, a Chinese national aged in his 20s, died at the scene from the impact.
The car’s driver, a 55-year-old man from Cranbourne, was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
Traffic along the South Gippsland Highway was closed in both directions between Pound and Abbotts roads.
