THE Dandenong Market will now be parking-friendly for buses in a bid by the Greater Dandenong council to improve the facility’s tourist appeal.
Improvements to parking bays mean buses can park directly at the market’s doorstep, as opposed to a stop opposite the site on King Street.
The council said the buses would now stop at Cleeland Street.
“Relocating the tour bus parking bays is another example of how we are working to support and improve access to the market,” Greater Dandenong mayor Youhorn Chea said.
“Key features of the plans for Stage 2 include a series of new meat, fish and poultry shops, the creation of a food court plaza, construction of a general merchandise hall, improvements to the fresh fruit and vegetable area, improved car parking access in Clow Street, and new car parking in Stuart Street.”
