Students encouraged to capture the Anzac spirit

STUDENTS from Greater Dandenong could win a two-week tour of significant Australian war sites, including Gallipoli in Turkey.
Entries are now open for Year 9 students to the Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC competition.
South Eastern Metropolitan MP Gordon Rich-Phillips urged local students to sign up.
“By entering the competition, students have a great opportunity to be one of ten to participate in a two- week overseas study tour to sites of Australian wartime significance such as Gallipoli,” Mr Phillips said.
To enter, students must demonstrate the ways in which the ANZAC Spirit, one of the cornerstones of Australia’s participation in campaigns such as Gallipoli, has been exhibited throughout local communities in times of hardship such as drought and bushfires.
To do this, students can submit essays, poems, audio and video presentations, musical compositions, digital presentations, web page presentations, paintings and drawings.
“I encourage students in Dandenong to be as creative as possible when presenting real historical facts and the important message behind the Spirit of ANZAC,” Mr Phillips said.
He said this was a great opportunity for young Victorians to use their innovative skills in developing creative projects when expressing the fundamental historical message of the ANZAC Spirit.
