Dandenong companies took part in a fair to connect jobseekers with job opportunities.
Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams launched the Melbourne South-East Jobs Fair in Caulfield on Friday 17 August.
Among the 47 companies involved were 10 from Dandenong – Adecco, Mission Australia, Skilinvest, Skills Plus/AMES, The Bridge Employment, Ventura Bus, Bar Crusher Boats, Chromaflo Technologies, Extrusion Profiles Australia and Jayco.
About 4100 jobseekers, including auto industry workers, attended to hear about 1900 job vacancies.
They got to speak to exhibitors, including Victoria Police, Department of Human Services and the Level Crossing Removal Authority to learn about local job and training opportunities.
Participants also received information packs and attended sessions on resume writing and developing strategies for finding a job that suits their skill base.
“This jobs fair is all about connecting local jobseekers with employers to find suitable jobs,” Ms Williams said.
“Dandenong is proudly one of the nation’s biggest manufacturing hubs.
“There are jobs out there.”
