Dandenong’s Pop-Up Park could find a new home.
The Journal reported last year that it would make way for a residential tower on the Foster Street site.
Greater Dandenong business group manager Paul Kearsley told the Monday 12 February council meeting that Development Victoria was working with the council on a suitable location for the park.
“Development Victoria now share our belief that it’s a valuable asset,” he said.
He said it could still be years before development started on the site.
Mr Kearsley hopes to bring an update on the preferred location for the park’s future to the council in the coming months, plus details on what would be needed to make the move.
Development Victoria – then called Places Victoria – signed a deal with Orion International Group for a $60 million, 14-storey apartment building on the site as part of the Revitalising Central Dandenong project.
It would include about 140 apartments, ground floor retail and office space, and car parking.
