Senior fights off home intruder

A 60-year-old man has fought off a masked intruder who tried to force his way through the front door of his Springvale home.

The resident was awoken by banging and smashing at the door of his Whitworth Avenue house at 3.05am on 24 September.

He discovered a man clad in a balaclava and a mask kicking in the bottom glass panel of the door.

With the help of the door’s safety chain, the victim has held the door closed on the intruder.

The resident cut his hand in the struggle but eventually the offender turned heel.

Any information to Greater Dandenong CIU on 9767 7487 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.gov.au.
