Man charged over alleged crop house

Police have inadvertently uncovered an alleged crop house in Springvale while investigating another matter late on Saturday 29 September.

About midnight, two man apparently “spooked by flashing police lights” fled from the house, police say.

A 27-year-old Springvale South man was arrested by police with assistance from the Dog Squad.

A large commercial quantity – about 49 kilograms – of dry cannabis was allegedly seized from the house.

The man was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of cannabis as well as cultivation of cannabis.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

The second man remains at large.
