THE George Street Bridge and works surrounding it will be one of the main topics at the next Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association meeting.
The $29.5 million bridge is an important part of the Victorian Government’s $290 million Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative – a partnership between VicUrban and the City of Greater Dandenong aimed at rejuvenating the town centre.
Artwork will be mounted on both sides of the new bridge based on historical images of the former Dandenong Livestock Market, previously located at the site of the new bridge.
Belinda Williams from VicRoads will be the guest speaker at the DRTA May general meeting and will provide members with important information about the bridge and other VicRoads projects.
“VicRoads has some exciting projects happening in and around Central Dandenong and this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more,” DRTA chairman Roy Aspinall said.
“All retailers are welcome at the general meeting, be they members or not, but we do hope that all retailers will eventually join.
“Attendance at the general meetings is a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow Central Dandenong retailers.
The meeting on Tuesday, May 4, will be at the Ramada Encore Hotel, 50 McCrae Street, Dandenong, commencing at 6pm.
