THREE local multicultural seniors groups will receive a funding boost as part of the State Government’s Community Grants Program.
The grants aim to provide support to multicultural seniors groups and fund regular social and community activities.
St Paul’s South Eastern Suburbs Association will receive $1820, the Hungarian Senior Citizens Club of Greater Dandenong will be paid $3080 and Combined Pensioners and Superannuants Association of Victoria will receive a grant of $1680.
Springvale’s St Paul’s South Eastern Suburbs Association president Jim Dingli said the grant will be a great help to the seniors citizens’ club this year.
“It will be a big help because without these grants, the club can’t keep going,” he said.
“We are all seniors and pensioners.”
The grant will subsidise catering for meetings and buses for the association’s outings.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said the grants would support senior citizens’ organisations in multicultural communities.
“These grants will assist our elderly citizens from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to hold regular activities and events which will provide them with friendship and support in their later years,” Ms Peulich said.
