Thief chose wrong buyer

POLICE have arrested and charged a 52-year-old man for theft, burglary and drug cultivation.
The Doveton man allegedly stole $10,000 worth of farming equipment from a Dandenong South factory earlier this year but came unstuck when he tried to sell it to another factory.
The equipment was imported from Italy under a sole distributorship and was recognised by the man he was trying to sell it to.
The man contacted the original owner, who tipped off police.
Police searched his house after he was arrested and allegedly found more stolen equipment as well as a hydroponic cannabis crop in the garage.
Police seized the stolen goods, five cannabis plants and hydroponic equipment.
He was charged with burglary, theft and cultivation and was remanded in custody to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
