A DANDENONG organisation for people with disabilities is calling for work for its employees.
Gateway Industries employs people with disabilities and gets them into the workforce by providing work from local businesses.
It works in packaging, cleaning, woodwork or gardening but Gateway Industries CEO Alex Neitz said it was always looking for businesses they could do work for.
“We’re always looking for work in our packaging, cleaning and woodwork departments,” Mr Neitz said.
“Our people can, and do, do quality work. They do a terrific job.”
“The more work we get, the more we can get people into employment.”
Mr Neitz said jobs did more than just earn the ’employees with disabilities’ some extra money.
“It help builds self-esteem and the other normal things you get when you’re employed, like interaction and skills.”
Mr Neitz said employees were currently working with local businesses like Winnapine and Gates Australia.
Contracts with Casey and Greater Dandenong councils have also kept the gardening department busy.
Without those businesses Gateway Industries wouldn’t have the opportunity to employ as many people, Mr Neitz said.
“If anybody wants to contact us (with some work) we’ll have a look at it,” he said.
“We’re prepared to have a look at anything and if we feel we can do it, we can do the job.”
