Help sought over driver assault

POLICE are wanting to speak to three men regarding an assault on a Noble Park cab driver in 2005.
Police this week released images from the cab’s surveillance camera in the hope someone may recognise the passengers.
Police said on 23 October 2005 a taxi driver picked up three men outside the Stamford Hotel in Wellington Road, Rowville.
They directed him to the Noble Park area, and as the driver entered Bowmore Road in Noble Park, the men asked him to turn into a driveway but instead he stopped in the street.
Police believe as the rear passengers got out of the car, the front passenger pulled out an empty stubbie from his pocket and hit the driver in the face, causing him to black out while they fled the scene without paying.
The 26-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Monash Medical Centre.
The front passenger was described as having a solid build, 180cm in height and was wearing a T-shirt, denim jacket and jeans.
One of the rear passengers was believed to be very thin, about 170cm tall and was also wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
Throughout the journey the men were speaking another language, thought to be Russian.
