Charity thrives at Oasis

DANDENONG Oasis raised with a multicultural event more than $700 for the notforprofit disability employment agency The Gateway Centre.
The charity fun day, Sounds of the Globe, featured acts and dances from the Mauritius community group, Awalim Belly Dance Company, the Oasis Latin Groove show and special performances from Coomoora, Westall and Mt Eliza College students.
The Gateway Centre provides employment opportunities for people with various disabilities including depression, paraplegia and blindness.
Carla Cristiano from Oasis, Dandenong’s aquatic and leisure centre, said three charity fun days were held every year to help various organisations.
“The Dandenong Oasis Charity Fun Day was developed to support local community groups and charities which are often overlooked and rely heavily upon the support of the community.”
Sounds of the Globe was supported by Bunnings Warehouse in Dandenong, TipTop bakeries, and Dandenong Oasis staff.
