THE 115th anniversary of the completion of Dandenong’s original civic building will be celebrated on Monday evening, 5 September.
The Dandenong Town Hall, now undergoing a $13.5 million redevelopment, is being returned to its former glory, with the addition of a new performing arts theatre.
Greater Dandenong chief executive Carl Wulff said the celebrations would be a time to reflect and relive the town hall’s past as well as to view the works now in progress.
“The Dandenong Town Hall has 115 years of history that we are extremely proud to be celebrating,” he said.
“As part of the current $13.5 million redevelopment of the town hall into a performing arts centre which will open in February next year, the newlook town hall will drive revitalisation into the city and become an integral part of the city’s cultural precinct.”
The celebrations will feature a performance from Stacey Allume, winner of the 2005 Dandenong Festival of Music and Arts for Youth Aria.
