THE Dandenong Rangers Big V men’s side lost 89-96 to Hume City at Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium on Saturday night.
It was the Rangers’ third loss in the championship division and highlighted the team’s struggle to win games that come down to the wire.
Lester Strong was the star again, scoring 30 points for Dandenong and collecting 14 rebounds. Strong has scored 130 points in the first four matches of the season and has made more than 56 per cent of his field goal attempts.
Brent Hobba provided support for Strong with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Rangers take on Diamond Valley this Saturday at 7pm at Dandenong Basketball Stadium.
Diamond Valley has also endured a poor start to the season, resulting in one win and three losses. If the Rangers can shut down scoring machine Tom Burns and allow Lester Strong to again dominate the points and the boards, the Rangers have a winning chance.
The result should prove whether or not the Dandenong Rangers are good enough to be considered contenders for this season’s championship.
Rangers miss out
