FIREFIGHTERS rushed to cool down gas cylinders exposed to intense heat when a Dandenong business caught fire last week.
Firefighters on scene at Repco in Bennet Street, Dandenong, at 8pm on Wednesday, 3 January removed several gas cylinders from the burning building.
Quick-cut saws were used to gain entry into the building, and firefighters quickly contained the blaze. Smoke and heat damaged an unknown value of stock, and Repco management refused to reveal to Star the extent of the damage.
Firefighters said a ute was saved from excessive damage, and positive pressure fans helped ventilate the building safely.
Dandenong Police attended the scene but said investigations showed the cause of the fire was most likely an electrical fault.
Dandenong, Hallam and Springvale Country Fire Authority brigades attended.
