OFFICERS from the City of Greater Dandenong Council will prepare a report for councillors on the costs and capacity of council’s hard waste recovery and recycling service to introduce a ‘TV Take Back’ scheme.
The scheme would aim to ensure old televisions and other electronic equipment are recycled rather than put to landfill.
At the last council meeting, councillor Maria Sampey who mooted the scheme, suggested that council writes to both State and Federal Governments calling for a decision on introducing a national ‘TV Take Back’ scheme at the May meeting of the Environment Protection and Heritage Council.
Cr Sampey also called on councillors to support a motion at the May Municipal Association of Victoria State Council in support of a national responsibility scheme on TV and other electronic equipment.
