A MUDDY mess left by Silver’s Circus is expected to be cleaned up soon, director Anton Gasser said.
Last week, Harrisfield resident Robert, who asked for his last name to be kept anonymous, told the Star a reserve opposite his house was left a mess after the Silver’s Circus packed up and left.
The circus had set up in late July on what Robert said used to be a place for residents to kick the football or take the dog for a walk.
Robert told the Star he had nothing against the circus but wanted the mess cleaned up.
The City of Greater Dandenong owned part of the grasslands, five feet in from the kerb, and the rest of the land was the Sandown Park Hotel’s, Robert said.
Mr Gasser said he was aware of the mess when the circus left, but had always intended on cleaning it up.
“We had some bad weather mud from where the caravan was parked and from tracks, but you can’t clean it up when it’s wet,” Mr Gasser said.
“We always clean up after ourselves. We are putting top soil on the spot within the next few days.”
No rubbish was left at the site, Mr Gasser said, and the mud was not contaminated because there were no animals in the circus.
Mr Gasser said he did not want the local residents to worry and thanked them for their support.
“Most of the residents understand,” he said. “Most of them have been so kind to us.”
A spokesperson for the City of Greater Dandenong told the Star the grasslands were inspected and there was no damage to council-owned land.
