Aris is average

SOUTH Springvale Aris will not settle for mediocrity, despite still finding its feet in division two.
In their opening three games as the youngest division two side, Aris has won one game, lost another and last week played out their first draw.
The 1-1 deadlock with Box Hill at Warner Reserve capped off an “average” start to the season.
Even though his team is still adapting to the higher quality of soccer since being promoted from division three, Aris’ coach Steve Voursoukis said his team should at least have two wins next to its name.
“We’re just trying to get consistency,” Voursoukis said.
“It hasn’t been a bad start but we could have been on two wins.”
Aris went up 1-0 on Saturday after Artemis Karanicolas converted from the spot. The home side continued to press for a second goal and on multiple occasions they looked like scoring.
But against the run of play, Box Hill scored in the 85th minute to rob Springvale of two extra points.
Heatherton United’s season has taken another downturn after it was trounced by Casey Comets 6-0 at Comets Stadium.
After losing the opening game of the season, it appeared Heatherton was back on track with a win against Doncaster, but after last week’s embarrassing loss it will need to return to the drawing board to get back on the winners’ list.
Noble Park is also having troubles of its own after losing 2-1 to the Eastern Lions at Parkfield Reserve.
Noble Park is yet to win a game in division two.
In division one, the Southern Stars have won back-to-back games after coming from behind to beat the Preston Lions 2-1 at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.
Irish imports Alan Kearney and Padraig Gollogley netted goals either side of the half-time break as the Stars advanced to fourth on the ladder.
