A SECOND quarter lapse of concentration cost Keysborough dearly against Casey in its six-point Big V Division 2 loss.
The Cougars started strongly – hitting the scoreboard early via Kevin Benn (15 points, nine rebounds), before Casey started to build the advantage.
Casey pushed ahead in the second term as Keysborough went 7/21 from the field and the Cavaliers started pumping in three-pointers to take a 10-point lead at the half.
Keysborough found their range in the third – raining down threes in a scoring spree.
The perimeter work of John Constance (3/6 3PT), Aaron Stirton (3/5 3PT) and Adam Sliwinski dragged the Cougars back into the match – pushing Keysborough ahead in the fourth quarter before Casey stabilised through forward Jono Hawes (20 points, six rebounds).
Benn, Stirton and Constance were the best of the Keysborough scoring force.
Keysborough remain second on the ladder, behind the unbeaten Cavaliers, and will face Maccabi Warriors on Wednesday night after the Star went to print before travelling to Shepparton on Saturday.
Loss gives plenty to contemplate
