DANDENONG will have to find another on-court threat to replace the departing superstar Jenna O’Hea.
O’Hea, 26, will be sorely missed on court after deciding to pack her bags and head to Europe during next year’s summer basketball season, giving the WNBL a miss.
It will leave Dandenong without a crucial piece of its 2011/12 WNBL championship winning team and its 2013/14 most valuable player and All-Star Five inductee.
O’Hea notched 72 games for the club in her three seasons and hit 1235 points for the club – including a whopping 494 this season at a match average of 20.7 per game.
Coach Mark Wright has re-signed 2012/13 Ranger Monica Wright while also regaining the on-court expertise of Opals’ guard Kathleen Macleod who took last season off to give birth to her son Jaxon and rehabilitate a badly injured knee.
The Rangers have not re-signed potential Opals’ guard Leilani Mitchell, Brigitte Ardossi, Rosie Moult and Natalie Novosel, but will retain Alison Downie, Aimee Clydesdale and Lauren Scherf.
