EFL selection caps big year for Noble Park’s Stewart Kemperman

By JARROD POTTER

AN Eastern Football League Team of the Year would not feel complete without Noble Park mainstay Stewart Kemperman.
Earning his third consecutive nomination into the EFL Division 1 Team of the Year, Kemperman has maintained his consistency across half-back and into the midfield despite dealing with a number of injuries – including a bicep strain.
In his 17 matches this season, Kemperman was named in the best five times including a best-on-round effort against Norwood when the Bulls upset the unbeaten Norsemen at home.
The other stand-out moment of Kemperman’s year was when he was tapped on the shoulder to stand as the Bulls’ interim-coach after Jon Knight left the club following the round 16 clash against Lilydale.
Kemperman’s year finished as strongly as it started – with the hard-edged defender/midfielder selected for the EFL’s inter-league team to face the VAFA in March.
In the Chandler Medal polling on Monday night, Craig Anderson continued to poll exceptionally at the Chandler, picking up 12 votes to finish equal seventh and go along with the two Chandler Medals he won in 2011 and 2007.
Powerhouse forward Brett Dore also finished on 12 votes while Chris Horton-Milne and Luke Mann both earned four votes apiece.
Stingrays-listed midfielder Jack Wheeler came runner-up in the reserves vote count with 11 votes.
The Noble Park Football Club presentation night will be held on Saturday 4 October, from 7.30pm. For more information on the night, head to the club’s website http://football.clubnoble.com.au.
