Moon on the rise for new year

SPRINGVALE’S Lunar New Year festival is back for 2015 and it promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Produced in partnership with the Greater Dandenong Council and the Springvale Asian Business Association, the Springvale Lunar New Year Festival will be held on Sunday 15 February.
The festival boasts a proud 23-year history that has seen it grow into the largest public event in the City of Greater Dandenong.
It now attracts more than 80,000 people from across Melbourne each year.
The festival showcases Asian culture and traditions and, more importantly, the multicultural tapestry that is Greater Dandenong.
It also helps to encourage families and new migrants to participate in social and cultural activities and promotes harmony for the community and the society as a whole.
With more than 50 multicultural street food vendors, dozens of variety market stalls, large-scale carnival rides, sideshow amusements and, of course, the on-stage family entertainment, local traders have shown great interest in becoming involved in the event.
Those who would like to run a stall, become a festival partner or get a community group involved can visit www.SpringvaleLunarNewYear.com.au or email LunarNewYear@cgd.vic.gov.au by 10 December.
