Arcadia University and the Department of Athletics, based in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in Canada, have announced the commitment of Lysterfield South and Beaconhills student Sarsha Cadle to their women’s basketball team for 2017/18.
The tall-forward, 17, will join the Axewomen in the fall (autumn) of 2017 following her graduation from school.
Over the last three seasons, Cadle has captained the College’s varsity team and was MVP of the league for three straight years.
She was then selected for the Victorian State School Team, where she won a National Silver Medal for her work.
Locally, Cadle has played the last two years in the Big V Division II conference, and has moved up to Division I with the Casey Cavaliers.
Axewomen coach Len Harvey is excited to have the talented forward on his roster next season.
“Sarsha is a post presence that will fit in nicely with our style of play,” he said.
“She plays effectively on the perimeter with more of an international upbringing as a post player.
“She can shoot the ball to three, as well as muscle around in the paint. Her passing ability is an underrated aspect of her game, and her ability to move the ball within an offense and play in space is going to be a great addition for us,” he said.
Sarsha will study kinesiology while at the college and is excited to be joining Arcadia after visiting the campus recently.
“Arcadia seems like the perfect fit for me both academically and athletically and I can’t wait to start the next phase of my life at such an amazing place.”
