Cream produced by Dandenong South’s Chobani is up for a top dairy prize.
The Gippsland Dairy Pure Double Cream is among three finalists in the cream category for the Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
The annual awards recognise quality, innovation and excellence in all areas of dairy production, and the champions will be announced in February next year.
A panel of 24 judges tasted more than 400 dairy products over two days to select the finalists.
Renowned dairy educators Russell Smith and Mark Livermore led the panel of technical experts, chefs, retailers and flavour specialists to assess presentation, texture, flavour and aroma.
Australian Grand Dairy Awards convenor Amanda Menegazzo said all the finalists started with “one amazing ingredient”.
“Quality Australian milk,” she said.
“These awards would not exist without the contribution of the passionate Australian dairy farmers.”
Votes from dairy lovers around the country will determine the People’s Choice Award winner.
