Permit win for families

Dandenong North will soon have a new childcare centre.
Greater Dandenong councillors approved an application for 52-54 Murray Road at their Monday 27 November meeting.
The application proposes alterations to the existing building and a new car park.
The centre would accommodate 30 children.
The council received two objections to the application, which generally related to increased traffic and car parking in the area, danger to children walking to school, noise, and objects being thrown over the fence.
The site has been used as a milk bar for more than a decade and is about 20 metres diagonally opposite from Rosewood Downs Primary School.
A council report on the application found it was unlikely that amenity impacts such as traffic, car parking and noise would increase beyond what already exists in the from the primary school.
Silverleaf Ward councillor Maria Sampey said the centre would make life easy for parents who needed to drop children at child care and school.
She said this was important in a society where both parents worked in most families.
