Three…reasons to get active in April

1. The Premier’s Active April challenge encourages people to get active for 30 minutes a day during the month of April. This level of physical activity is said to reduce health risks such as heart attack, type two diabetes, some cancers, high blood pressure, osteoperosis and more.
2. Getting active for 30 minutes each day can increase bone, muscle and joint strength and lower the risk of falls.
3. Exercise can block negative thoughts or distract people from daily worries. Exercising with others provides an opportunity for increased social contact and increased fitness may lift a person’s mood and improve sleep patterns. Exercise can also change chemical levels in the brain, such as serotonin, endorphins and stress hormones.
