Home ground advantage

DANDENONG skaters will be part of the East Vic Roller Derby team’s first home game.
Roller Derby is a flat track, roller skating, full contact, team sport, performed on quad roller skates – this crazy grassroots sport has made a comeback in Australia over the past few years with more than 10 leagues across Victoria alone.
The East Vic women’s only team trains at Greeves Reserve in Dandenong, as well as Bayswater Sports Centre.
EVRD’s team the Witches of East Vic will meet the West Side Derby Dolls in the East Meets West bout at the Knox Netball Centre, 9 Dempster Road, Ferntree Gully, on Saturday 6 April, doors open at 5.30pm, bout starts at 6.30pm.
The family friendly event has merchandise, raffles and entertainment by The Kujo Kings.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for 12 to 17-year-olds and under-12s are free – tickets are available at the door or online at www.eastvicrollerderby.wordpress.com.
Fresh meat classes are on the first Sunday of every month in Dandenong, email evrdfreshmeat@gmail.com for more information.
