SILVERTON Primary students planted more than 250 new trees in their school grounds to celebrate National Tree Day on 26 July.
There are now indigenous plants around the fence line, pond, creek bed and new basketball court area, and a vegie patch.
Science teacher Emmanuelle Blake, who runs the school’s environment club, said the school had taken part in the Planet Ark initiative for at least 12 years.
She said the kids had a great time at the event, supported by Patterson Cheney Toyota.
“The garden’s always changing,” she said.
“Every year, there’s always an area that needs planting.”
